Projects & Commissions List

From 1990 onwards my work has mostly been site-specific interpretation installations, for sites of archaeological and environmental importance. My involvement includes research, creation of interpretive plans, text, design of exhibitions and on-site graphic and tactile panels, interactive exhibits/events, photography, illustration and reconstruction paintings. I have taught practical day schools on archaeological finds illustration for the Association of Archaeological Illustrators and Surveyors.

1990 St Peter’s Church, Thetford, exhibition design and production of ‘The Thetford Story’. Breckland Council

1991 Snettisham, interpretive plan for the “Archaeologist’s Trail” on Park Farm. Design, research, text, and illustration of two on-site panels and leaflet.

1991 Thetford Priory, Interpretive plan and panel designs. English Heritage.

1992 Gressenhall, illustrations and text for “Willow Growing and Basketry”, and “Apple Orchard” panel, Norfolk Rural Life Museum.

1992 Travelling exhibition, design, research, text, illustration and photography of ‘Who Cares about Earthworks’, Norfolk Museum Service.

1993 Middleton Mount, on-site interpretation panels at, Norfolk County Council.

1993 Holkham, on-site interpretation panel of Iron Age Fort, English Nature.

1993- 4 Caistor St Edmund, interpretation of Roman town. The interpretative media used where: two way marked trails, ten on-site panels, leaflet, poster, education pack and activity days. This included the commission for two large watercolour reconstructions of the town. Norfolk Archaeological Trust.



1994 Snettisham, script and storyboard for video " 5000 Years of Farming on Park Farm.” For the Visitor Centre, Park Farm Snettisham.

1995 Castle Acre Castle, Reconstruction painting, for Normans in Norfolk exhibition, Castle Museum Norwich. Norfolk Museums Service.

1995 Caistor Roman Town, interpretation of the chalk-land and riverside flora. Design, text and illustration of two on-site panels which reveal the relationship between the natural and archaeological heritage. Anglian Water.



1995 Whitlingham Woods, interpretation of ecology and social history, design, text and joint illustration of two on-site panels. South Norfolk Council.

1995 Norfolk Show, large interactive exhibition/event on Roman Norfolk. Research, design, text, and production including Roman costumes and food. Norfolk Museums Service.



1996 Warham Camp, Iron Age fort and chalk-land flora, research, design, text and illustration of on-site interpretation panel. Norfolk Museum Service.


1996 Burgh Castle, interpretive plan for the Roman fort, ecology and landscape. On going project. Norfolk Archaeological Trust.

1996- Caister-on-Sea, interpretive plan for the Roman Fort. Research, design, text 1997 and joint illustration of four on-site interpretive panels. Borough Council of Great Yarmouth.



1997 Norfolk Show, research, design and production of a large Interactive exhibition /event 'Norfolk's Iron Heart',looking at the many uses for Iron through the ages, local landscapes, buildings and folklore. Norfolk Museums Service.

1997 Smockmill Common, wildlife and history interpretation panel, research, design, text and illustration. South Norfolk Council.

1998 Roydon Fen, landscape and habitat change interpretation panel, research, design, text and illustration. South Norfolk Council.

1999- 2000 Great Yarmouth, interpretive plan for the “Town Wall Walk”. Research, design, text and illustration of two tactile on-site interpretation panels. On going project 2006. Borough Council of Great Yarmouth.

     

1999 Hickling Visitor Centre, interactive exhibits and interpretation panels on the wildlife, history, landscape change and water quality. Joint design, illustration and photography. Norfolk Wildlife Trust.



1999 ‘Thetford Town Trail” Interpretive design or trail, text and illustration of five tactile Interpretation panels along the route of the trail. Breckland Council.



2000 Brecks, large panorama illustration of landscape, wildlife and history of Breckland for Brecks awareness panels and leaflet. Brecks Project.



2000 Cley nature reserve visitor centre, two paintings commissioned for the centre to show the possible effects of sea level rise on Cley marshes and the wildlife. Norfolk Wildlife Trust.



2001 Framingham Earl, School Project for children to  illustrate interpretation panel on 'The Dell'.



2001 Private commission for a water colour study of a Green Woodpecker.

2002 Castle Acre Castle the design and illustration of five interpretation panels, including three reconstruction paintings of Castle Acre Castle. English Heritage.

2003 Trowse Church Meadow, wildlife interpretation panel. Design, illustration and photography. Norwich Fringe Project.



2004 Waxham, commissioned for a large reconstruction painting of the medieval barn and surrounding landscape in1588, for an exhibition in the barn. Norfolk Historic Buildings Trust.



2004 Research for the interpretation panels at St Helen’s Church and Blood Hill in Santon Downham and a Wayside Cross at Weeting. Design, text, illustration including three reconstruction paintings. Forest Enterprise.

2008 Tiffey Trails, Norfolk - Interpretation Panel 'A Roman Small Town at Wicklewood'



2009 - 2011 Project Heritage Office for the 'Capturing Our Wayland Heritage' a Heritage Lottery funded project, based in Watton, Norfolk. The project produced 13 puplications with associated DVD and an a Digital Education Pack for the schools in the Wayland area. 2012 - Illustrations for the interpretation panel on Gallow Hill, Bronze Age Cemetary, Wood Lane, High Kelling, Norfolk.



2012 - Illustrations for displays in the Time & Tide Museum, Gt Yarmouth, for the Norfolk Museums and Archaeological Service.

2012 - The design of an interpretation panel for the 'Swaefas Swale Community Orchard' in Swaffham, Norfolk will be unvailed on 24th March 2012.
